Absolute Yes!

Have you ever had those moments when you are trying to decide on something and the choice comes so easily and instantaneously?  I call those my “absolute yes!” moments.  One such experience came up this weekend when I was shopping with a friend.  I tried on a pair of black pants and a funky white top and it looked so perfect that there was no question I would buy both pieces.  Of course their being on sale helped, but what was interesting to me was that the top was something I would not have ordinarily even tried on, let alone buy.

So it got me thinking about what those “absolute yes” moments mean.  They are more than choosing what’s comfortable or the norm and they are not about choosing what others think we should.  To me, these moments are about listening for, and to, our intuitive voice.  That part of us that “knows” what’s right for us, even when it is outside our comfort zone.  I listened to it when I chose my new community and home – and even though the process was scary, I knew it was right.  When my clients listen to it, they are able to choose their new career or life paths more effortlessly.

They key is both listening to it and then acting on it.  I could have left that top behind in the dressing room since it was a different purchase for me, but I bought it instead, and look forward to wearing it.  What are some of the “absolute yes” moments that you acted on?  I’d love to hear from you!

Nostalgia

The other day when I was in the locker room at the gym the scent of the space suddenly reminded me of the pool I used to frequent when I was a child in Valley Stream, NY.  I had a flash of memories from the summers my brother, mother and I used to have such fun there.  We walked through the park to get there since my mother did not drive, but it was a beautiful place so we enjoyed the walk.  We would hand over our pool passes (boy those photos were not pretty, think DMV photos only much worse – do you believe I actually saved those old pool passes for a laugh now and then) and walk through the locker room to the pool on the other side.  For several years, that trip was early in the day to take swimming lessons (three years of beginner lessons and I finally passed!), other times it was midday around lunchtime – when the thrill of eating crispy, greasy french fries beckoned.

I love reminising of those days when playing was all my brother and I thought about.  Fun is still an important part of my life and I make time for it, even though it is more scheduled than childhood days.  In fact, this weekend I am going to dig out those old pool passes to have a good laugh!

What about you?  What fun memories do you have of childhood?  What kind of fun do you have now?  I’d love to hear your comments!

Hello world!

Hello,

Since this is my first post I thought I would introduce myself so you’ll know whose life you are reading about!

Professionally, I am a career/life coach and speaker – with a focus on helping men and women reach for more of their potential and truly experience life with greater passion and purpose.  I love hearing those ah-ha moments – when a client suddenly “sees” their current environment in a new way, when they discover that they have more control of their experience than they previously thought, and then begin to exercise that control and make things happen for themselves.  I also love to see this happen in a group setting when I am delivering one of my interactive seminars.  You’ll be most likely hearing about some of these moments in weeks to come but if you want to learn more now, go to www.stefaniezizzo.com.

Personally I am a native New Yorker who started a new life in North Carolina a few years ago – one that I had dreamed about for a long time, and now have realized!  You see, growing up I was very shy – so much so that I dreaded being noticed.  I was the one that would try to hide in the classroom so as not to be called upon to answer a question and even into my late 20’s on my wedding day, I was truly wishing my guests would not look as I walked down the aisle.  Now I am blogging for all the world to see – boy have I come a long way.  I’ll be sharing more of how I did it in posts to come…

So long for now
